Pommy Power!

Posted on March 06 2017

Oils are big! We mean BIG! And this one REALLY packs a punch!
They have the ability to provide everything from moisture to healing for the whole skin- head to toe! The number of oils is endless and each different oil has its own amazing array of benefits and properties. They are easily absorbed into the skin and leave very little greasy residue once they sink in to penetrate and hydrate the deepest layers of our skin. You can even use oil on the ends of wet hair to prevent split ends and to nourish the hair from outside in!
Our latest favourite here at soapNskin is Pomegranate Seed Oil. It is a wonder! It is used in many body and bath products ranging from body oils right through to shampoos and soaps. It is made by cold pressing the seeds of the fruit which are then turned into a light but highly effective regenerative and moisture rich oil which is suitable for all skin types...yes, that right, I said all skin types!
It is composed of a polyunsaturated oil which contains punicic acid, an omega 5 fatty acid which is hugely effective in fighting off free radicals to keep ageing at bay, keeping those fine lines and wrinkles far away!! In addition, it is high in antioxidants and so keeps skin supple but firm by aiding collagen production.
Application of the oil will improve the overall appearance of skin quite quickly in most cases as it works on regenerating cells on the outer layer of the skin as well as working its magic deep within too. It is highly effective at  protecting the skin against sun damage as it's anti inflammatory. Any redness or other irritations can be quickly reduced with regular application.
As already mentioned it is a great oil for all skin types but particularly good for oily, acne prone skin. it is easily absorbed and controls breakouts of spots reducing scarring as it encourages regeneration of cells and it is soothing too.
Pomegranate seed oil also does wonders for the hair. It revitalises and nourishes dull hair, stimulates the scalp to aid healthier hair growth and helps fight bacteria related infections on the scalp, like psoriasis and eczema.
As you can guess, we are definitely sold! Pomegranate seed oil is a wonderful, versatile oil for hair and skin which is beneficial for all skin types. Watch this space for new products in our range which definitely incorporates this liquid gold wonder!
